This orange electric fence polywire is easy to install and maintain. You will need to set up evenly spaced posts with insulators to hold the wire. Simply run the wire around the fence perimeter and then attach the ends to your energiser. You should also include at least 3 ground stakes to earth the system.
The intention with an electric fence is not to create a closed loop. When an animal brushes against the wire, this will close the loop and deliver a shock. This is not a damaging or harmful shock, but will serve as a warning to stay away from the perimeter.
This polywire is made from high strength polyethylene (PE) fibres that are woven together with the conductive wires in between. This can be installed quickly and easily with minimal tools.
It has a breaking strength of 45kg, which makes it ideal for smaller animals and slow-moving animals. Any breaches in the fencing can be easily remedied by replacing the length of wire. If you’re unsure if this will be strong enough or a high enough voltage, we recommend choosing one capable of delivering a higher voltage than you think you’ll need.
