Electric Fence Wire, Electric Fence Rope and Electric Fence Tape
When constructed correctly, the fence will pulsate power along the fence line which will deliver a shock if anything comes into contact with the fence. We recommend constructing your fence with evenly spaced posts or specialist temporary electric fence posts.
Insulators placed at regular intervals will allow you to attach the wipe, rope or tape to the fence posts. We recommend using connectors rather than tying the wire, rope or tape as this will cause the fence to reach earth which will cause a loss of power or even no power at all. The wire, rope or tape is attached to an energiser at each side, with a ground stake to the earth to prevent faults in the system.
Electric fences are not a continual loop, but rather when an animal touches the fence this closes the loop and delivers a shock.
If you have questions about how to install a permanent or temporary electric fence, we encourage you to get in touch with our team. We can help you to choose the right components for your electric fence so you can be confident in your choices.
How to choose between wire, rope and tape
When choosing between wire, rope and tape to build your electric fence, you need to consider the purpose of the fence and what you hope to achieve. Rope and wire are the strongest options, but tape is the most visual.
If you are looking for strength and durability, rope is the strongest choice, but for a visual deterrent, tape is an excellent option. Our wire, rope and tape is available in a range of colours to suit your needs. Different colours are used for enhanced visibility and purely for aesthetic reasons.
Installing electric fence wire, rope and tape
To install electric fence tape, electric fence rope, or electric fence wire, start by using evenly spaced posts or specialist temporary electric fence posts. Attach insulators at regular intervals to secure the tape, rope, or wire to the posts. Use connectors instead of tying the conductor to ensure better conductivity. Finally, attach the conductor to the energiser using an energiser to fence clip. Ensure that the energiser has good earth to maintain a good current on the fence and to prevent any faults.
Using electric fence tape, electric fence rope, or electric fence wire for temporary fencing
Electric fence tape and rope are particularly suitable for temporary fencing, such as strip grazing and movable paddocks. They are easy to install, transport, and remove, providing flexibility for changing fencing needs.
