Choosing the right agricultural fencing

What is agricultural fencing?
Agricultural fencing, also known as farm fencing, refers to fencing or barriers used in an agricultural setting. Often to keep livestock secure, manage wildlife on your land, or protect crops you may be growing.
What types of fencing are commonly used in agriculture?
We stock three core types of farm fences. These are wire, rope, and tape fencing. Wire fencing is usually the most resilient out of the three types, made from galvanised steel and coated in zinc to help resist rust and corrosion.
Rope or poly rope fencing conducts electricity and can be used as both a security measure and to manage animals. Ideal for areas where wind damage is an issue, this resilient fencing is the ideal choice for containing larger animals, including horses, ponies, cattle, and sheep.
Tape fencing also conducts electricity and is the ideal option for those looking to create a temporary fence or paddock. It can be paired with our range of electric fence insulators, connectors, and energisers to create a bespoke solution for your land or property.
How often should agricultural fencing be inspected and maintained?
Agricultural fences should be inspected regularly to ensure animals remain contained and secure. Muttons recommends inspecting any farming fencing daily for electric fencing and monthly for permanent wood and wire fencing to ensure the fence remains structurally sound. Fencing should also be inspected after particularly bad storms or abhorrent weather to identify if any break in the fencing has occurred.
