The electric fencing insulators you need
Electric fencing insulators are designed to hold the electric fence conductor to fence posts without interrupting the current. When attaching a length of conductor to a wooden fence post, you will need a plastic insulator to prevent the current from going down the wooden fence post.
Electric fencing insulators are available in a wide range of configurations, including screw rings and offset insulators. You might use a combination of different fence insulators to achieve your objectives. Offset insulators are commonly used to create distance between the conductor and the electric fence posts, which can lengthen the life of your electric fencing.
You can choose between clamp insulators and free-flowing insulators. A free-flowing insulator will allow the conductor to run and stretch, which can reduce the risk of breakage if an animal challenges the fence.
We also stock gate anchors to help you continue the electric current over gates and openings. Our insulators are suitable for wire, rope and tape-style electric fencing, so you can be confident you’ll find the right product for your needs. We offer premium quality electric fencing insulators that will stand the test of time, offering excellent longevity in wet, windy or exposed conditions.
What do insulators do?
Insulators work by holding conductors in position and separating them from other structures, such as metal or wooden fence posts. It’s important to choose the right fencing insulator for your needs, as there are different electric fence insulators for tape, wire and rope.
How far apart should I place electric fencing insulators?
The spacing of fencing insulators depends on the type of fence and the terrain.
For straight sections, you should be placing down a fencing insulator every 6 feet. For uneven terrain, you should be placing down fencing insulators closer together so that you maintain consistent wire height.
Proper spacing ensures the wire remains taut and prevents sagging, maintaining an effective barrier.
How do I maintain my electric fencing insulators?
Regular maintenance is key to ensuring the longevity and effectiveness of your fencing insulators. Inspect your fence insulator regularly by looking for cracks, wear or damage and be sure to replace any compromised insulators as soon as possible.
Remove any debris or vegetation that may accumulate around fence insulators to prevent grounding issues and ensure the wire remains securely seated in the fence insulator to prevent power loss.
